What UTC offset does Las Vegas use right now?
The city sits in the America/Los_Angeles IANA zone. From early November to mid-March the offset is UTC−8, known as Pacific Standard Time. From mid-March to early November it shifts to UTC−7, Pacific Daylight Time. The safe umbrella term year-round is Pacific Time, or PT. Saying "PST" in July is wrong.
Standard office hours run 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM PT, Monday through Friday. Banks, government offices, and most corporate teams inside the city operate inside that window. Casinos stay open 24 hours. Your colleagues do not.
The conference call golden hour is 11:00 AM PT. At that moment, it is 2:00 PM Eastern, 7:00 PM in London, and 8:00 AM the next day in Tokyo. No other hour hits three continents in their working day. If you can hold only one recurring meeting, hold it at 11:00 AM PT.
East Coast overlap: the 11 AM to 2 PM window
Las Vegas is 3 hours behind New York. Always. Both observe daylight saving time on the same schedule, so the offset never changes. That is unlike Las Vegas versus Phoenix, which shifts twice a year.
The usable overlap between Las Vegas and East Coast teams runs from 9:00 AM PT (12:00 PM Eastern) to 2:00 PM PT (5:00 PM Eastern). Five hours total. The best three are 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM PT. East Coasters are fully caffeinated by 2:00 PM Eastern and not yet checked out for the day.
Why 9:00 AM Pacific is a trap
Scheduling a 9:00 AM PT meeting lands at 12:00 PM Eastern. That hits the New York lunch hour. People eat at their desks or step away. Move it to 10:00 AM PT (1:00 PM Eastern) and attendance jumps.
When the East Coast checks out
After 2:00 PM PT, it is 5:00 PM in New York. Decision-makers have left. Save that slot for internal West Coast work.

European overlap: the narrow window
London sits 8 hours ahead of Las Vegas year-round. The offset does not change because both cities shift clocks on the same weekends.
The cold-season crossover
From November to March, London at 9:00 AM is 1:00 AM in Las Vegas. London at 5:00 PM is 9:00 AM PT. The only crossover is Las Vegas morning, 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM PT, which equals London afternoon, 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. That window is two hours. Someone works late or starts early.
The warm-season crossover
From March to November, the math is identical. London at 9:00 AM is still 1:00 AM Las Vegas. London at 5:00 PM is still 9:00 AM PT. The 8-hour gap holds.
The 11:00 AM question
The golden hour lands at 7:00 PM in London. Feasible for a quick standup if the European team member works 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Not feasible for a two-hour workshop.
How to share the pain
Alternate meeting times. Use Las Vegas morning (8:00 AM PT equals 4:00 PM London) one week. Use Las Vegas afternoon (1:00 PM PT equals 9:00 PM London) the next. Each side takes a turn outside core hours.
India overlap: morning or night
India Standard Time is 13.5 hours ahead of Las Vegas in the cold months and 12.5 hours ahead in the warm months. The 1-hour shift comes from Las Vegas switching to PDT while India does not observe DST.
Cold-season numbers
9:00 AM PT equals 10:30 PM IST. 5:00 PM PT equals 6:30 AM IST the next day.
Warm-season numbers
9:00 AM PT equals 9:30 PM IST. 5:00 PM PT equals 5:30 AM IST the next day.
Zero standard-hour overlap
The only workable slots sit at the edges. Las Vegas early morning, 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM PT, hits India evening, 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM in the cold months, or 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM in the warm months. Las Vegas late evening, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM PT, hits India morning, 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM in the cold months, or 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM in the warm months.
Skip the daily sync
Do not try to force a daily standup. Use async handoffs and one weekly handover meeting at the crossover edge. Your Las Vegas person starts early one day. Your India person stays late one day.

Asia-Pacific overlap: the afternoon shift
Tokyo is 17 hours ahead of Las Vegas in the cold months, 16 hours ahead in the warm months. Sydney is 19 hours ahead in the cold months, 17 hours ahead in the warm months.
The pattern is simple. Las Vegas afternoon equals Asia-Pacific next-day morning.
Tokyo numbers
1:00 PM PT equals 6:00 AM Tokyo in the cold months, or 5:00 AM in the warm months. 5:00 PM PT equals 10:00 AM Tokyo in the cold months, or 9:00 AM in the warm months.
Sydney numbers
1:00 PM PT equals 8:00 AM Sydney in the cold months, or 6:00 AM in the warm months. 5:00 PM PT equals 12:00 PM Sydney in the cold months, or 10:00 AM in the warm months.
The best slot
Target Las Vegas afternoon, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM PT. That lands in Asia-Pacific morning, 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM Tokyo and 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Sydney in the cold months. Your Las Vegas team is still in their workday. Your Asia-Pacific team has just started.
Scheduling recurring meetings across zones
| Meeting Type | Las Vegas Time | East Coast | London (Cold) | India (Cold) | Tokyo (Cold) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Golden hour | 11:00 AM | 2:00 PM | 7:00 PM | 12:30 AM | 4:00 AM (next) |
| Europe-friendly | 8:00 AM | 11:00 AM | 4:00 PM | 9:30 PM | 1:00 AM (next) |
| Asia-Pacific-friendly | 3:00 PM | 6:00 PM | 11:00 PM | 4:30 AM (next) | 8:00 AM (next) |
| India crossover | 7:00 AM | 10:00 AM | 3:00 PM | 8:30 PM | 12:00 AM (next) |
One meeting time cannot serve all zones. Pick two zones per meeting. Rotate.
Which time zone tools handle Las Vegas correctly?
Use a world clock that shows America/Los_Angeles explicitly. Do not rely on "PST" or "PDT" labels. Many apps display the wrong one.
Set your calendar correctly
Set your calendar to show Las Vegas time as a secondary time zone. The IANA identifier is America/Los_Angeles. Enter that code into any tool that asks for a time zone. It handles daylight saving changes automatically.
Avoid fixed UTC offsets
For one-off calls, use a time zone converter. For recurring meetings, set the event to America/Los_Angeles so it shifts with DST. Do not set it to a fixed UTC offset. That breaks twice a year.
Use the Las Vegas Time Zone Converters to compare any city against Las Vegas in real time.
How do remote teams handle async handoffs from Las Vegas?
When real-time meetings are impossible, async works better than any compromise time slot.
The Las Vegas to India loop
Your Las Vegas person writes their daily update at 5:00 PM PT. The India team reads it at 6:30 AM IST the next day in the cold months, or 5:30 AM in the warm months. India responds by 12:00 PM IST. That is 10:30 PM PT in the cold months, or 11:30 PM PT in the warm months. The loop completes within 24 hours.
The Las Vegas to Europe loop
Europe writes at 5:00 PM London. That is 9:00 AM PT. Las Vegas responds by 5:00 PM PT, which is 1:00 AM London the next day. Europe reads at 9:00 AM. One-day turnaround.
Set the right expectations
Do not expect same-day responses across more than 4 hours of offset. Tell the team: "I check messages at start and end of my day. If you need a real-time answer, Slack me during the 11 AM to 2 PM PT window."
Which US holidays close Las Vegas offices?
A meeting scheduled for the second Monday of January looks fine until someone points out that is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Las Vegas offices close.

Does summer heat change office hours?
Las Vegas warm-season hours run 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM exactly as cold-season hours do. The heat does not shorten the workday. However, daylight stretches to 14 hours 37 minutes on the June solstice, with sunrise at 5:23 AM. Your Las Vegas team may prefer earlier starts in the warm months for personal reasons. Ask them. Do not assume.
When do Las Vegas remote teams work outside 9 to 5?
If your Las Vegas team works in a casino, a convention center, or a 24-hour retail operation on the Strip, throw out the 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM rule. Those shifts run around the clock. A blackjack dealer at 3:00 AM PT is as reachable as one at 3:00 PM. Ask your contact for their personal shift schedule and schedule against that, not against the city's default.
All-Pacific teams
If your entire team sits inside the Pacific time zone (California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia), everyone shares the same clock. The only complication is DST alignment, and the whole West Coast changes clocks together.
Standard corporate teams
If your Las Vegas contact works a standard office job for a corporate employer, a tech company, or a professional services firm, the 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM PT window is the only reliable answer. Ignore it and you will schedule meetings that no one attends.
